Dear Farley Hill Families,
Welcome to Monday and our new “First Day of School”!
Last week, Superintendent Rick Todd shared through an email a presentation with you on Pinckney’s Continuous Learning Plan. He detailed the different components within the plan for grades K-12. One of which is the platform we will use to distribute academic activities, which is Seesaw for grade K-6. On each Monday, assignments will be posted in your child(ren)’s Seesaw classroom which includes two Language Arts lessons and two Math lessons, as well as an activity choice board for specials (PE, Art, STEAM, 4C, Music). These Monday postings will allow you to plan and pace school with your child(ren) throughout the week based on your household schedule. Your first classroom message as part of our "soft" roll out, should be ready for you to view now in Seesaw. More formal lessons will be posted each Monday beginning next week.
The continuous learning plan also includes academic office hours and Community Circle Time. Mr. Todd in his presentation described both of these pieces. The days and times for these pieces are posted in your child’s Classroom Seesaw as well as how to access them.
Our Farley Hill teachers have been working collaboratively with Country teachers within their corresponding grade level during the past week to develop lessons and activities for their students. Our goal is to provide consistency throughout the grade level and within the district. This first week is a soft rollout. Our teachers were asked to support families to access Seesaw from home, post their academic office hours and classroom Community Circle invitations. Next week, there will be a full roll out with academic activities and lessons.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are having a problem accessing Seesaw. I understand this is a challenging way to teach. Many of you are working, taking care of kids and the house and possibly caring for others. I appreciate the time you can also fit in your day to become your child(ren)’s teacher.
Our PCS Student and Family Specialists have been working together and have compiled a list of resources that might be helpful to you. That list is coming up on page two of this note. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Michelle Sherman if she can be of any assistance to you or your child (msherman@pinckneypirates.org). Also, Carol Rowland, our DHHS Pathways to Potential coach, can also be reached by email if you need additional resources/assistance (crowland@pinckneypirates.org).
I miss the kids very much! It has been wonderful to see and hear the students through their postings on Seesaw and in virtual classroom meetings. I am looking forward to observing their work in Seesaw and to joining many more classroom meetings in the coming weeks. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of any support as we move forward.
Take care,
Yvonne
A Message from our Student & Family Specialist
Dear PCS families,
We all find ourselves in uncharted circumstances during this COVID-19 pandemic. We want to make sure you know resources are available. It can be overwhelming to know where to look for help and how to go about getting support. Here is the link: Livingston County Agency Resources
It provides local resources covering:
Covid-19 Information (page 1)
Food Assistance (pages 1-3)
Social/Emotions/Disability/Senior/Recovery Supports (pages 3-9)
Housing Assistance (pages 9-10)
Support for Children (pages 10-11)
Other Assistance (pages 11-17)
Thank you for your support, patience and flexibility as we navigate this new normal.
