Dear Farley Hill Families;
First of all, let us say: Thank you. Thank you for your tireless support of our students in our Pinckney Community Schools. Through various fundraisers, parent-teacher meetings, after-school activities, and everything else that happens in the course of a school year, you have shown your commitment to giving your child the best possible education. As we continue to partner with you for the education of your child, please know that your commitment does not go unnoticed.
It is because of your commitment and support that we are writing. As you may know, Pinckney has recently decided to begin the process of securing therapy dogs for each school building in our district. This is a large undertaking for us financially. Therapy dogs will need to be purchased and trained, an estimated cost of $8,000-$10,000 per dog. Additionally, we will need funds and support for food and veterinary care. However, despite the scope of this project, we are committed to supporting our students and providing a positive learning environment for all. Therapy dogs in schools have proven to provide students with companionship, reduce anxiety and stress levels, increase positive moods and ease social isolation.
It is time for Farley Hill to begin planning for our own therapy dog! When discussing several alternative fundraising options, it was proposed that we simply write to our families and let them know the amount of our need. While we will continue to hold events and seek funding, many families and/or companies will prefer to donate funds or choose a sponsorship level to continue to grow and support the wonderful students in our community.
And that brings me to you. Out of consideration for you and your valuable time, we have decided to ask each family and any business partners to consider donating to our “A Pirate’s Best Friend” project. As you think about your holiday giving, please consider our school. “Many hands make light work,” so the saying goes. Each donation made will earn a Best Friend Puppy Flier displayed throughout the district. Every donation is tax-deductible and we will provide a donation letter upon request.
We want to end this letter by thanking you again. Thank you for taking the time to read it, and whether you are able to give or not, know we deeply appreciate your dedication to your child and our school.
