Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! This is a special year. Ten years ago, Mrs. Trosin, Mrs. Walker, Mr. Jerome, and Mr. Ozias, along with a curious cohort of Pinckney 9th and 10th graders, were embarking upon a new and exciting endeavor: launching a small, project-based “school within a school” called Pinckney New Tech High (NTH), with Mrs. McBride supporting them as their School Development Coach from the national New Tech Network.
Here we are, 10 years later, with the core New Tech team still in tact, 8 graduating classes who have gone off to college and careers, with a new “Spotlight School” designation from New Tech Network for our powerful Student Voice system (more soon!), and with the largest incoming Sophomore class we’ve seen in years. We have lots of celebrating to do, and we can’t wait to dive in with all of you! Let’s make this the best year yet!
NTH Students - Want to help plan Advisory and inform ongoing improvements to the New Tech experience? Join Student Voice! We meet over lunch in the Green Screen Room every Friday.
Parents of NEW NTH Students - Your learner will be using the online learning management system called Echo in their New Tech courses. Echo houses project-based resources, students’ outcome-based gradebook, as well as daily class agendas. We strongly encourage you to have a parent account tied to your learner’s account. To do so, please contact Director McBride at 810.225.5516 or jmcbride@pinckneypirates.org. She will need your first and last name, email address, your learner’s name and graduation year.
Prospective New Tech Families - Please read this Letter to the Class of 2023 as a way to support your learner’s 10th-12th grade pathway decision-making process in February 2020 during Course Selection.
